What is on the page
A large airship crosses the page, its envelope divided into long panels and rigged with cables down to a riveted gondola below. Three propellers turn — one at the tail, two on the sides — and a small railed observation deck sits on the gondola's roof. Beneath it the land opens out: a mountain range, a headland with a lighthouse, and a wide patchwork of hedged fields and cypress trees receding to the horizon. Clouds and gulls fill the sky around the craft.
Colouring it
A mix of open areas and finer detail.
The envelope's panels invite an ordered treatment — alternating tones, or a graded run from nose to tail — and that decision carries the page. The landscape below is a patchwork of separate fields, which is a rare licence to use a dozen greens and yellows without it looking chaotic. Keeping the sky pale stops the airship from getting lost in it.
